I heard a quote by Pema Chodron this week that really opened my eyes.
And it made me think of you.
“If you don’t know the nature of fear, then you can never be fearless.”
— Pema Chodron
Because as entrepreneurs I know this journey is equally, if not MORE so, about personal development than professional.
I know that when the tough business actions need to happen, fear can easily swoop in and make us want to…
- stay in bed all day and cry
- clean the house or do laundry
- work on a different project
- eat way too much chocolate
- redo your website – AGAIN
- drink way too much wine
- get lost on facebook…
Yet, it’s the not doing these big business actions that keeps you stuck and overwhelmed.
The dream of being and feeling fearless IS attainable.
But what on earth does that it mean?
For starters, it means breathing in your fear.
Sitting in it.
Owning it.
Feeling every ounce of it.
Honoring it.
Learning from it.
Running away when things are scary or difficult does not make the fear disappear – it’s simply a distraction.
You can know what fearlessness feels like when you embrace your capacity to feel fear.
Rest assured the fears you may be feeling now in your business are positive steps toward letting your true fearless self shine.
Which means if you have…
- avoided follow up potential client calls
- stayed at home instead of networking
- invited potential clients in **last minute** to a new program
- said “no” to speaking requests
- avoided writing newsletters weekly
- hidden behind “nice” platitudes v. sharing your honest opinions
- waited to make those handouts or ebook “perfect” and graphically amazing before sharing
…then congratulations!
You’re one step closer to business fearlessness.
Remember, it’s all about the journey my sensitive soul sister. And the sooner you can embrace your fears versus building up happy walls for no fear to ever enter, the sooner you will be able to transcend success in your business.
Big Hugs,
Lisa
